Khenpo Jamyang Tenzin

Khenpo Jamyang Tenzin

Khenpo Jamyang Tenzin is one of the most respected philosophy teachers within the Sakya Tradition for both his vast knowledge of Buddhadharma and his years of retreat practice. He studied under the late Khenchen Appey Rinpoche at Sakya College mastering both sutra and tantra. He was one of the first Sakya monks in exile to be given the title of khenpo or abbot and taught for several years at Sakya College.

After completing a three-year Lamdre retreat under the guidance of HE Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, he was asked by His Holiness Sakya Trizin to be the abbot of Tsechen Do’ngag Choeling in Mundgod, South India. In his monastery in Mundgod, he trained for more than a decade a new generation of monks in philosophy and practice. He now dedicates much of his time to abiding in meditation retreats but still graciously makes time to teaching, accepting invitations to turn the wheel of Dharma both in Tibetan and English.
